Deep-sea Fishing

For those who enjoy fishing as much as hunting, the Eastern Cape coastline offers the perfect opportunity to take a day away from the hunting and experience the waters of the Indian Ocean.

Add a fishing excursion to your safari and enjoy a completely different side of the Eastern Cape. Depending on your fishing destination, the day may begin with an exciting river mouth or surf launch before heading out along the rugged coastline and into deeper offshore waters.

Both bottom fishing and offshore trolling can be arranged, giving anglers the opportunity to target a variety of species depending on the season, weather and ocean conditions. Bottom and reef fishing may produce species such as Cape salmon (geelbek), kob, red steenbras, black musselcracker and other locally occurring reef fish, while offshore trolling offers the opportunity to pursue pelagic species such as yellowtail and tuna when conditions and seasonal movements are favourable.

The Eastern Cape coastline is also rich in marine life, and guests may be fortunate enough to encounter dolphins, whales and other marine species while at sea. Although wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, they can add something truly special to an already memorable day on the ocean.

Fishing excursions generally begin early in the morning and continue into the afternoon, with the exact departure time and duration determined by the fishing location and prevailing sea conditions. As with all offshore fishing, trips are weather dependent, and the safety of our guests and crew will always come first.

All fishing excursions are privately arranged and subject to availability. We recommend booking well in advance of your safari to give us the best opportunity to secure your preferred dates and make the necessary arrangements.
