Welcome to Garland Hunting Safaris
Garland Hunting Safaris is a family run South African hunting outfit based in the heart of the Eastern Cape, offering authentic, professionally guided hunting safaris to hunters from around the world.
Founded and owned by Outfitter and Professional Hunter Brendan Moorcroft, Garland Hunting Safaris combines generations of Eastern Cape heritage with more than 15 years of professional hunting experience, exceptional fieldcraft, genuine hospitality, and a deep respect for Africa’s wildlife and wild places.
Supporting Brendan is Shanna Moorcroft, who manages the lodge with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine passion for hospitality. Together, they have created a safari experience where every guest is welcomed as part of the family and every detail is carefully considered to ensure an unforgettable stay.
Our philosophy is simple: to share the raw, the authentic, and the real Africa through ethical, fair-chase hunting and unforgettable experiences in the field.
For us, a safari is about far more than the trophies you take home. It is about the challenge of the hunt, the landscapes you explore, the friendships you make, and the stories shared around the campfire at the end of the day.

The Story Behind the Garland Name
The name Garland Hunting Safaris is deeply connected to our home base and its history.
A section of the farm has been known as Garland for generations, with the name believed to date back to the late 1800s or early 1900s. Although the exact origins of the name may have been lost over time, Garland has remained part of the identity and history of the land.
When the time came to name our safari operation, Garland was the natural choice.
It is a name that connects our business to the land we call home and represents the heritage and history that form part of who we are today.
And so, Garland Hunting Safaris was born.
Our Home in the Eastern Cape
Our home base is situated in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, a malaria free region renowned for its remarkable ecological diversity, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking scenery.
The landscape stretches across sweeping plains, rugged valleys, dense thicket, open country, forest patches, and the beautiful Kubusi Valley. This diverse terrain provides exceptional habitat for a wide variety of game species and creates equally diverse hunting opportunities.
One day may involve glassing across vast open country and carefully planning a challenging stalk. The next may take you into thick bush, where the hunt becomes close, intense, and unpredictable.
It is this diversity that makes hunting the Eastern Cape so unique. Every day in the field is different, and every hunt presents its own challenge.
Hunting is available throughout the year, with the prime hunting season generally running from April through September, where the cooler temperatures provide excellent conditions for long, rewarding days in the field.
Your Outfitter and Professional Hunter
At the heart of Garland Hunting Safaris is Brendan Moorcroft, founder, owner, Outfitter, and Professional Hunter.
With more than 15 years of experience as a Professional Hunter, together with dangerous game hunting experience and licensing, Brendan brings extensive knowledge of African wildlife, hunting, and fieldcraft to every safari.
His approach has always been personal and hands on. From the first conversation about planning your safari to the final evening around the campfire, the aim is to make every guest feel welcome and part of the experience.
